Iftekhar Hasan holds the title of university professor at Fordham University, where he also serves as the E. Gerald Corrigan Chair in Finance, academic director of the PhD program, and co-director of the Center for Research in Contemporary Finance at the Gabelli School of Business. He further serves as a scientific advisor at the Central Bank of Finland, as a fractional faculty member at the University of Sydney, as a research fellow at the Financial Institution Center at the Wharton School as well as at the IWH Institute in Halle, Germany. He is the managing editor of the Journal of Financial Stability and has served as an associate editor with several other reputed academic journals.

Professor Hasan's research interests are in the areas of financial institutions, corporate finance, capital markets, and emerging economies focusing on interdisciplinary questions and public policy issues. He has been involved with numerous academic research grants from different governmental, national, and international science foundations and organizations in the U.S. and abroad. Hasan has more than 450 publications in print, including 16 books and edited volumes, and more than 330 peer-reviewed articles in significant academic journals in finance (JFE, JFQA, RF, JB), accounting (JAR, RAST, CAR), economics (JME, JIE, JEG, JMCB), international business (JIBS), management (SMJ, JoM, HRM, RP, JBE), operation research (MS), and information systems (JIMS).

Professor Hasan has held visiting faculty positions at several universities around the world, including the University of Rome, Italy; the University of Strasbourg, France; the University of Carlos III, Madrid; EPFL at Lausanne, Switzerland; Hong Kong Polytechnic University; the University of Limoges, France; National Taiwan University at Taipei; the University of Romania at Bucharest; Xi’an Jiaotong University, China; University Utara Malaysia; the University of Sydney, Australia; and NYU's Stern School of Business. Professor Hasan has also been a consultant or a visiting scholar for numerous international organizations, including the World Bank, the IMF, the United Nations, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the Office of the Comptroller of Currency of the U.S. Treasury, the Banque de France, Development Bank of Japan, and the Italian Deposit Insurance Corporation.

A Fulbright scholar and a Fulbright selector, Professor Hasan has also earned distinction as a Changjiang Scholar in China, a Louis Bachelier Fellow in France, a Shimomura Fellow in Japan, and a Bursa Malaysia Chair in Malaysia. He also received a Doctor Honoris Causa degree from the Romanian American University in Bucharest.




Stefano Manfredonia is a Visiting Professor of Finance at Fordham University. He obtained his PhD in Economics and Finance at the University of Rome Tor Vergata at end of 2021. During his PhD, he has been a visiting scholar at the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF), a visiting researcher at Fordham University, and worked as a consultant for the International Fund of Agricultural Development (IFAD). His main research interest is in empirical corporate finance and banking.


Haizhi Wang is professor of finance at Illinois Institute of Technology’s Stuart School of Business. He has been a visiting scholar at the Center for Financial Analysis and Policy at the University of Cambridge (UK). Wang received the Founder’s Award of Excellence and the Del and Edith Karger Dissertation Prize in Management while earning his Ph.D. at Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 2008.

Wang’s research focuses on corporate finance, financial institutions, and entrepreneurial finance. He also works on interdisciplinary research projects linking finance to strategic management. His research has been published in academic journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Strategic Management Journal, Small Business Economics, Financial Review, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Investing and Managerial Finance.



Professor Qiang Wu is a full professor at the School of Accounting and Finance, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Professor Wu holds a Ph.D. degree from the Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University (JHU), and a Bachelor’s degree from Wuhan University of Technology (WUT). Before joining PolyU, Professor Wu was an A.C. Lawrence Faculty Fellow and an associate professor at RPI, and an assistant professor at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

Professor Wu has a broad research interest in accounting and finance. His research topics include tax avoidance, earnings quality, corporate governance, debt contracting, corporate social responsibility, social capital, NLP, gender, and ethical issues. His research works have appeared in several premier journals, including Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Business Ethics, and Research Policy. Professor Wu’s works have also been widely cited by major business media including Bloomberg, CNBC, WAMC, Reuters, Dow Jones Newswires, AICPA, Accounting Today, AAA, CFO Magazine, Catalyst, Bankrate. Professor Wu is an editor of Journal of International Accounting Research, an editor of China Accounting and Finance Review, an associate editor of Advances in Accounting, and an associate editor of Journal of Financial Stability.


Woon Sau Leung is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Finance at The University of Edinburgh. He is a fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and was previously a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Finance at Cardiff Business School and a visiting scholar at Fordham University in the US. He holds an integrated BBA degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and MSc and PhD in Finance from Cardiff University.

Woon Sau's work has been published in international, peer-reviewed business and finance journals, including Journal of International Business Studies (ABS 4*;FT50), Production and Operations Management (ABS 4; FT50), Journal of Corporate Finance (ABS 4), Journal of Banking and Finance (ABS 3), Journal of Empirical Finance (ABS 3), etc. Some of his papers were featured by the Harvard Business Review, Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Regulation, the Columbia Law School Blue Sky Blog, Reuters, Bloomberg, Institutional Investors, and other media outlets. His research has been presented in major finance conferences, including the European Finance Association (EFA) annual conference, the FMA annual and regional conferences, among others. In 2016, he received Best Paper Award in Financial Institutions at the FMA annual conference in Las Vegas, US. His research interests encompass banking, corporate finance, asset pricing, corporate social responsibility, mutual funds, and the financial implications of supply-chain management.



Gene Ambrocio is a research economist at the Bank of Finland’s Monetary Policy and Research Department. His research interests broadly defined are in information and financial frictions in macroeconomics and finance. He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in 2015.
