Call for Papers
Theme: Upgrading Manufacturing and Services with E-Business
Venue: School of Business, Soochow University, China

E-business continues to fundamentally transform traditional industries and markets and creates unprecedented service and manufacturing innovations. Examples in service domains include online peer-to-peer lending, crowd funding, open innovation, healthcare exchanges, O2O, and so forth (e.g., Angst and Agarwal 2009, Leimeister, Huber et al. 2009, Herzenstein, Sonenshein et al. 2011, Duarte, Siegel et al. 2012, Zhang and Liu 2012). E-business has also created opportunities as well as challenges for manufacturing industries. For example, today’s manufactures have to decide if the firm should offer products through e-business channels and, if so, how the operations for the e-business channels would differ from the traditional channels. Besides, the e-business has opened up opportunities for manufacturers to share and receive real-time information, streamline relationships with suppliers and customers, and increase the speed, flexibility and efficiency of the production process. These e-business related innovations provide rich contexts for researchers to investigate a variety of research questions. This conference aims to discuss the technological, economical, managerial, and behavioral issues of these service and manufacturing innovations in e-business platforms. This conference will include a number of keynote speeches from leading academics and executives, as well as practitioner-oriented roundtable discussions on e-business, supply chain and service innovations. The papers will be peer reviewed and will be selected on the basis of their quality and relevance to the theme of this special issue. Papers using different methodologies, such as mathematical modeling, empirical research, experiments, and case studies are invited. Outstanding papers will be recommended to be published in the Electronic Commerce Research. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to

5.Information sharing in e-business environment

Only the authors whose papers are accepted will be invited to attend this meeting.

About Suzhou (Soochow):
Suzhou, formerly romanized as Soochow, is about half hour away from Shanghai. It locates on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the shores of Lake Tai. Founded in 514 BC, Suzhou has over 2,500 years of history, with an abundant display of relics and sites of historical interest. At around 100 AD, during the Eastern Han Dynasty, it became one of the ten largest cities in the world. The city's canals, stone bridges, pagodas, and meticulously designed gardens have contributed to its status as one of the top tourist attractions in China. Suzhou is often dubbed the 'Venice of the East' or 'Venice of China.
Suzhou is famous for its Classical Gardens, collectively a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Humble Administrator's Garden and Lingering Garden are among the four most famous classical gardens in China. The Canglang Pavilion, Lion Grove Garden, Humble Administrator's Garden and Lingering Garden, respectively representing the garden styles of the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, are called the four most famous gardens in Suzhou.
Hanshan Temple (Cold Mountain Temple; Chinese: 寒山寺) is a Buddhist temple and monastery in Suzhou. It is near Fengqiao (Maple Bridge; Chinese: 枫桥), about 5 km (3 mi) west of the old city of Suzhou. The Hanshan Temple is famed in East Asia because of the well-known poem 'A Night Mooring near Maple Bridge' (枫桥夜泊) written by Zhang Ji (张继).
Within the city of Suzhou, there are areas featuring canals. Both 800-year-old Pingjiang Road (平江路) and 1,200-year-old Shantang Street are on the list of China's 'National Historic and Cultural Streets', and both feature elegant bridges, flowing waters and unique architecture.
